Gigiyah’s Cuisine

30 Jun

 Screenshot_1

Mercato De Oro is one of Centrio’s most awaited night in Cagayan de oro {happening every Fridays and Saturdays}. This is the type of night where you’ll see live bands performing, food stalls of different specialties/cuisine, and more. If you happen to visit Mercato De Oro, please visit Gigiyah’s Cuisine and maybe try out some of their deliciously prepared food.

This food stall is owned by my dear friends’ Rhyan and Sham. The brand name Gigiyah is actually derived from the name of  their firstborn daughter. I know Sham, she’s the kind of person who loves cooking and she’s actually good at it. Too bad I haven’t tried their cuisine yet. Why? good question! Well, I was away{from cdo} for quite some time already. Anyhow, I’ll try my best to visit them soon and I’m extremely excited just by the thought of it.

Please “LIKE” their page and don’t forget to visit Gigiyah’s Cuisine at Mercato De Oro! 🙂

Delecta Restaurant

25 Jun

Delecta Restaurant

One lazy evening, all we wanted to have for dinner is real home-cooked dishes. Since I don’t cook or chose not to {laziness at its best} we decided to dine outside. A dear cousin of mine told me that Delecta is one of their favorite Restaurant because of their delicious “lutong bahay”{home-cooked pinoy dishes}. I am not aware of other branches within the city, otherwise it is located inside Centrio mall {third floor}.

Delecta Restaurant Rating

There are times that I would crave for their dishes {that’s a good thing}. The last dinner I had, there’s one dish that’s lacking some kind of ingredient – salt. I tasted the creaminess and all {Pork Kare Kare – I think it was} but salt is just absent on that dish, it’s dull. Sadly, one false move will definitely give an impact to my over-all dining experience and therefore I give Delecta Restaurant a 7 out of 10.

23 Nov

MercatoCentrale, the popular food and lifestyle market from Metro Manila, will be bringing its food-tripping experience to Ayala Mall’s Centrio, Cagayan de Oro with MERCATO DE ORO starting December 7 (Saturday)!  Mercato de Oro will feature a night food and entertainment market every Friday and Saturday (4pm-3am) and a morning gourmet food and ‘fresh and organic’ market every Saturday (7am-2pm).

MERCATO DE ORO is managed by the MercatoCentrale group, which has successfully organized food markets in key Ayala Malls locations around Metro Manila which include MidnightMercato in Bonifacio Global  City (The Fort), Taguig, Mezza Norte in Trinoma Mall, Quezon City and CucinaAndare (the first food truck market in the Philippines) in Glorietta Mall, Makati.

“We are excited to bring the successful formula that has made the MercatoCentrale group of markets such a hit among Metro Manila foodies: A variety of great-tasting, innovative and affordable food choices, a selection of fresh, natural and organic fruits, produce, meats and seafood, gourmet and artisanal food and pastry products, unique arts and crafts, live acoustic entertainment and a festive atmosphere!” shared Anton Diaz, co-founder of MercatoCentrale and the award-winning blogger behind the most popular food and travel blog in the Philippineswww.OurAwesomePlanet.com.  “It’s free entrance as well! This is why the MercatoCentrale markets have become very popular foodie destinations for Manilenos, balikbayans and tourists.” Anton added.

“MERCATO DE ORO will be food and lifestyle market where the home-grown entrepreneurs of Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Iligan, Ozamiz, Pagadian and the other neighboring provinces can showcase their local cuisine, specialty dishes, fresh and organic fruits, vegetables, meats and seafood, and locally-made arts, crafts and collectibles.” shared RJ Ledesma co-founder of MercatoCentrale and a TV host for GMA News TV’s Best Men (who was more popularly known as Joey in the Royal Tru-Orange series back in the eighties). “We are also bringing over the best-selling food vendors from our Mercato markets in Manila to be part of MERCATO DE ORO.”  RJ said.

“We are also looking for the next big food entrepreneur from Cagayan de Oro who wants to bring his business to the next level!” said Anton.  “The Mercato markets have been the birthplace of many expanding Manila food businesses like Manang’s Chicken, Merry Moo Premium Ice Cream and Chuck’s Grubberie Fish and Chips. In fact, one of our pioneer vendors, Mochiko Ice Cream, already has a branch here in Centrio!”

MERCATO DE ORO is located at Ayala’s Centrio Mall, Cagayan de Oro. The night market will be open every Friday and Saturday (4pm-3am) and the morning market will be open every Saturday(7am-2pm) starting December 7 (Saturday).

Boses Movie

27 Aug

DepEd Advisory 141: Boses, a powerful advocacy tool on Child protection.

“Boses” is a filipino word which also means “voice”. This is an indie-film that decided to be on mainstream because of the advocacy. The advocacy is all about child protection and the movie emphasizes on the reality of children being abused and the impact of their unfortunate experiences towards their behavior. This creative indie movie was directed by Ms. Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil.

I am trying so hard not to be a major spoiler, but i love how they inject music to supposedly dark-ish, sensitive story. I kinda appreciate this movie more than of the typical mainstream stuff. *specially when one the character already died and then kinda “resurrected” last minute. grrr…

anyways, cut the crap….here’s the news: Boses the Movie will be shown at Centrio Cinemas very soon, and that is on the 6th  to 11th September of 2013. You can help spread the advocacy by sharing and LIKE their facebook page, most importantly watch it on one of it’s “Now Showing” days. 🙂

Seda Hotel Room Tour

4 Jul

Even when Seda Hotel was still under construction, I was extremely intrigued by whatever they have in stored for cdo. I was obviously too excited to pay this Hotel a visit because even just after a few weeks of the opening, I already went there to have coffee and snacks with boyfriend but hoping I can take a look at the rooms, well, I had no lucky chance to just do it. And so, me and company was invited to Seda In the City party, but wasn’t expecting any other activities other than party and socializing. It was indeed a delightful invitation when one of the organizer Mackey asked me if I wanted to join the rest of the people for the hotel tour, I gave him a loud and clear – YES! {haha} I was actually taking notes during the hotel tour but after going through my note {smartphone} again, i was like…oh no!  I hate to give my audience silly excuses- however, I have pics of  the rooms we toured so at least I’m not that clumsy.

They have neat, sleek, cozy and comfortable rooms at a very reasonable rates. Staying at their elite rooms, you’ll have access to their glamorous and exclusive cafeteria right on the 11th floor, get all the drinks you want, snacks and breakfasts, etc. To sum it up, very impressive, i personally would recommend every tourists to at least spend a night here at this Hotel to really enjoy cdo.

Hotel Ratings

Like I will always do with my reviews, i would give my personal ratings. for SEDA,I’d give 9 {10 being the highest} Not bad at all.

You guys can actually visit their website SEDA CENTRIO  if you wish to check out their rooms and rates, and on the mentioned website; they have their contact details if you wish to inquire.

Style Origin At Centrio

30 May

The Fashion Show

I always judge a show by the stage setup, the lightings, etc, and this people really know how to set up an amazing stage. I mean, I’ve seen some great ones too but that is like outside CDO and this is the first time to see something like that- right-here in Cagayan de Oro City. And talking about something that is ridiculously amazing, It’s not that I don’t know   Phoemela Barranda will be hosting the show, i find it abit awkward {NOT in a  negative way} to see celebrity at the beginning of the program flow.

The show went well, of course there were minor technical issues, nonetheless, over all – it was one heck of a show. Looking forward for more high – end, elegant fashion shows just like this one in the near future.  Before I end, just an idea, why not all local fashion designers/couture to maybe take time discussing and collaborate ideas about more quality fashion shows, better yet, make it a yearly event. In my opinion, that would help boost CDO’s tourism’s effort and definitely will let these kagayanon designers to show off their work, indirectly letting themselves be known.

Thank you Centrio for inviting me and of course CDO Bloggers for the sweet experience.

Fruits in Ice-Cream

19 Feb

IMG_20130214_202813While waiting for the most awaited time of the day {during Valentine’s Day}, which is the dinner date with bf. We kill the remaining hours just eating ice cream at Ayala Mall, Centrio. unpacked the lappy and just hang out at this cozy ice-cream shop named FIC { Fruits in Ice-Cream }. There’s like millions of flavors to choose, but these two are just my favorites – blueberry and pistachio.

I can’t get enough of pistachio, and so what happened, i had my second round. hehe no guilt of course since it is {i think} the type that has less fat, yoghurt – ish type. well, i’m so skinny that’s the least of my problem actually.

Restaurant/Cafe’s RATING

I heart the ice cream big-time, love the ambiance {interior design}, good customer service, I’ll give them 7 and 10 being the highest. Well, i should have rate them 9 but their internet connection’s sucks. Nevertheless, overall this is a nice place to hang out. ~peace!
