Finally, S&R in CDO!

4 Aug

Yup, I’ve been waiting for its opening for ages! When I first heard about it from a friend, I thought it was merely a rumor. Well, not anymore because S&R is here for real!!

1 S&R Facade 3

What is S&R?

Let me guess, you might be thinking about the ‘late’ Makro, right? Well, same same but different…you get me? To me personally, S&R is the hybrid {way better} version of warehouse store (when it comes to its products, system/programs and physical structure) compared to any local establishments of same concept. It is way better because S&R is modeled after warehouse shopping chains in the US. When that {hashtag} ‘mommies duties’, {hashtag} ‘grocery time’ kicks in, you folks will probably know where I’m at.

I never thought I will be able to get things {which can be found only in US} for our baby and for our groceries without having to tap our parents {who are living overseas} from time to time, because {to be honest} it is quite embarrassing on our part and most likely hassle on their part. This is somewhat like a little ‘wish come true’ for me and Tyrone {my husband} because when you want the best for the family and value for money, this exactly what we need. Imagine- world class items for everyday use with trusted American brands, right here in CDO! It is such a good news to kagay-anons who have been wishing the same thing we did.

What’s inside S&R?

  • High quality of meats and poultry, fresh and frozen hard-to-find seafood, dozens of imported fruits and vegetables to choose from, premium wines, brew and liquor.

  • Guess what? My favorite section of all, pastries, muffins and cakes, desserts, snacks, chips, Ice cream of many kinds {like, what?? yup…heavenly sight, alright}, lots of coffee and tea selections, all that pretty things, it’s like milk and honey to my senses haha! I can live in that section forever, seriously! rofl {don’t judge me :P}

  • And of course, my second favorite section: tons of lifestyle products, you name it; bed, bath and kitchen linens, casual apparel, health and beauty essentials, household basics, home appliances, furniture, etc – all quality products, I tell you.

The benefit and rewards is one of the many things to look forward to with S&R but first you must be a member to enjoy it. Everyday savings via exclusive deals and low club pricing program guarantees the best value for money.

Parking space

It’s exciting to see so much space to park just outside their building. In other words…no worries, that is already been taken care of. Spacey parking lot, check!

Wrap up!

There you go! I hope you guys will have the best shopping experience with S&R Cagayan de Oro City and please do sign up for membership first and foremost. They are located along CDO-Iligan road, Barangay Kauswagan. For updates please do ‘like’ their facebook page, or you may check their website out at S&R Cagayan de Oro.

Erich Gonzales: Choobi Choobi Restaurant’s Muse

During Choobi Choobi Restaurant’s Grand Opening which was held at LimKetKai at May 1, Erich Gonzales their brand ambassador graced the event. When asked about her favorite dish at the press con., she told us (the media) that she seriously loves every dishes in their menu but her top favorite would be Choobi Choobi’s seafoods. Frankly, we’re in the same team! Side note: I kinda developed an admiration towards Erich starting that day when I noticed her off camera kindness and humbleness, on top of it: she speaks bisaya too!

Choobi Choobi Term Derived From?

You’ll be surprised to know that this quirky term also means “lingaw-lingaw kaon” (having fun while eating). When CDO Blogger’s president asked Choobi Choobi’s manager about it, he elaborately told us that this term was actually coined by a family (also the founder of this brand, if I’m not mistaken). He stated that “if they enjoyed their meal and had fun, they’ll cheer “Choobi Choobi!” it’s the same thing as “lingaw-lingaw kaon”. The statement part is not a verbatim, okay? haha!

How’s The Food?

Okay, I won’t lie, walay pasakay…to be honest (just like Erich’ answer! pede copy paste nlng nako iyang answer?? LOL), I loved all of their dishes served on our table that day. My personal favorite would be their Chilean Mussels, It’s amazing! I will definitely come back for that deliciously, mind blowing stuff. Shrimp In A Bag is a winner too. I tell you, they can assure you their seafood’s freshness level is 100 percent same goes with their produce. And Ohhh! the Choobi Pata (also commonly called crispy pata) is love!

Restaurant Review: Manokan Grill

13 Jan

This is definitely super late review about another BBQ/Grill Restaurant that I went last year around the month of October. As I’ve mentioned on my previous post; I can see businessmen starting to pour out investments in food businesses specifically in BBQ/Grill Restaurants.  I’m going to review another one and this time I’ll do Manokan Grill Restaurant.

From the outside, you can see a modern – eco friendly and minimalist structured manokan. Even with the updated version of Manokan, they can assure you the taste of original recipe of famous chicken inasal that had been passed on over the years from one generation to another (I heard this is a duplication of the famous Jo’s Chicken Inato only rebranded). Like any other house of chicken inasal, you can expect affordability from their menus – great for family and barkadas (friends) dine-out experience.

Grilled Chicken Awesomeness

The chicken is so tender and juicy but of course; well cooked. Unlike the other manokan especially the commercialized manokan, their grilled chicken are mostly; dry, less meaty and you (kinda) could tell that the chicken was re-grilled over and over again to extend its shelf life (I think). I also loved their atchara because of its sweet and sour perfection.

The King of all Tapiocas

After their perfect grilled chicken, you can never go wrong with their desserts; Halo-Halo and tapioca. I am pretty much a sweet tooth person (tried almost all desserts in every restaurants or pastry café in town) and I could say they have the best Tapioca in town. I have to say major major sorry for the absence of the best tapioca. I ate everything so quickly  – forgot that I need to take a shot of it. Like a cliche “It’s so delicious, you’ll forget your name”. Well, in my case “forgot to take a tapioca selfie”.

Rate Manokan Grill

Number 10 being the highest, I’m giving them number 9. Aces on everything; I love their grilled chicken, halo-halo and (of course) the tapioca! Lol, accommodating and friendly waiters, clean place (oh, and their comfort room’s cleanliness passed my OCD standard too!). I kept one point because I think the lack of lightings. I mean, it is important to have strong lightings so that people will appreciate the beauty of what they’ll see on their plate(s). ‘Sayang ang food presentation if ngit-ngit’ (it will defeat the purpose of food presentation). And the truth is, people with astigmatism can’t tolerate low lighted area (that’s me!). Well, that’s the only blindspot they have. But, I realized typicaly manokans’ have poor lighting plus few colorful bulbs here and there. Haha! Nevermind.

Please do visit them at Corrales -Yacapin St. beside Trinidad building for your next family bonding – dine out plan. That’s a wrap up. Have a nice day folks!

Restaurant Review: Boy Zugba

Can’t Help To Notice

One thing I can’t help noticing (lately) in our booming city is as well as the booming of food businesses too especially BBQ themed restaurants. From my observation the focal area for this kind are mostly along the road of Corrales Ave. (I don’t know if you agree with me, though). From my address (Carmen) going to Centrio or Gaisano mall, I’ll pass by this road and I’ll always be attracted with Boy Zugba. For me, firstly it’s interior or basically the all-over architecture pretty much eye-catching since I love an ‘industrial’ setup.

I mean the details of the restaurants are like the packaging of their product, I personally think it’s important. Anyways, going back; Husband told me one day that we would dine in Boy Zugba but since our baby’s around, we avoid restaurants with crowd. This place is full packed – I don’t know – like from what I could recall, full house every single night we were there. Haha!

Boy Zugba’s Must Try

Last December, when Boy Zugba hosted the CDO Bloggers Christmas party, I was thrilled. No wonder why this restaurant never ran out of customers, I mean; their chicken BBQ is really something. The flavor is rich, it is definitely a well BBQ marinated chicken and it is so juicy plus the ‘atchara’ (I would compare it to kimchi but Filipino style) has just the right ‘asim’(sour) and ‘tam-is’ (sweet). The Pork barbeque and their bam-I also are a total winners.

That’s me on the back wearing green, piggin’ out. Don’t mind my pretty friend in front. lol

My personal encounter with Foodgasm

I am a Cheesy (not the corny-cheesy, of course lol) person, after trying their sausages with a hint of cheese; I have found my new favorite. I also died ( exaggeratedly speaking) when I tried their Leche flan. So so out of this world period. For me those were the best things I’ve experienced that night, because foodgasm is real. Haha!

Special Thanks

And also want to thank you Jollibee for the awesome coupons and Krispy Kreme for the generous Joy in A box ( #JoyInaBox ) donuts. Thank so so much for sharing the blessings. Please continue visiting these stores guys. ❤

Rate Boy Zugba

Being 10 is the highest I’ll give Boy Zugba number 9. The food is great, amazing great service, I love their branding; so original, unique and Grabe ka kagay-anon (bisaya) nga restaurant (totally a kagay-anon brand). The food and ambiance are perfect for family and friends. It could have been 10 out of 10 if the CR’s squeaky clean like all the time. haha!

CDO Bloggers

Here’s an idea of our Christmas Party thanks to Emotera Goddess for almost all of the pictures (unless noted). All of the bloggers are having great time – I’m sure, at least I did. Looking forward for more!

Restaurant Review: Ale Restaurant

1 Jan

Visited this restaurant not long ago and I have to say that they serve very good food. Well, (at least) we loved everything we ordered that day…and so I assume they really know how to prepare modern filipino dishes.

Why Ale Restaurant?

After a whole day running errands not so long ago, we ended it with one quick drop by at Robinsons for groceries. Gerry’s Grill was full that night when we wanted to dine in and because of that, we were able to try Ale Restaurant (which located just beside Gerry’s). The restaurant was empty when we first came in. Automatically, I thought: “empty restaurant might also means, bad service or not so tasty food?”.We can’t really judge a book by its cover is really true. Because, after dining at their restaurant: All that I can say is that, every centavos we spent in that restaurant was all worth it. yennnd, don’t you worry…customers started filling up the place after a few while. hehe!

My Favorite

Sometimes I would crave for their sizzling Taho. This taho cubes on that sizzle plate, as you can imagine is nothing but a tasteless soya. But, with an amazing sauce , I guaranty it’s the yummiest thing on earth. For me, its creaminess on point! I could never thought that we can sizzle anything so creamy.(although I heard about cooked Ice-cream but still not sizzling thingy plus never tasted it). FYI, I finished it all by self but no worries taho is packed with protein and less fat. :p

For my husband, their best seller fried fish was really something. Considering that he’s not that “fishy” guy (fishy I mean, a person who doesn’t like fish if you don’t get my joke haha)

Rate Ale Restaurant

Number 10 being the highest rate, I would love to give them 9. Their service was awesome; waiter’s polite, kind, fast and helpful. The place is clean and well maintained, maybe because it is quite new. We have no problem with parking lot because you can park inside Robinsons’. The dishes were superstars! Loved it,enjoyed it, no doubt.

Another great restaurant for family and friends, try it!

Shirogi Craze Case

11 Apr

Have you heard pandesal? yup, it’s more like a pandesal but with a charm (just kidding!). My coffee lover sister told me that I should try this bread. When I said “coffee-lover-sister” I also meant that the bread is best paired with coffee. Well, the bread alone is not bad — Although, I must say, I’ve had better and i’m pretty sure most of people here in CDO wouldn’t agree with me. These amazing people would really line up (yes, a very long line!) just to get some of these breads.

Saw ABS-CBN news maybe weeks ago and guess what? Shirogi craze case got really serious when two people from their bakeshop got their jail-time after selling the Shirogi recipe to some crooked guys. Also, I’ve heard – in just a matter of months, their franchise sprouted like mushrooms in CDO. Oh well, glad to be talking about bread craze in our city rather than any other unhealthy craze we see in other cities. If your city have a weird obsession about something, share with me please by commenting below. Big Tango!!
